The role leads in the development of 3x3 and Masters basketball across Victoria. Working with Basketball Australia, FIBA 3x3 and our local stakeholders, the role has a focus of developing a competition pathway in 3x3 which players, officials and coaches can pursue. These competitions are provided via associations and schools and should provide opportunities for both children and adults.
About Us
Basketball Victoria (BV) is the peak body for the sport of Basketball in Victoria. The broad objectives of BV are to provide for the advancement, encouragement, conduct, promotion and administration of Basketball in Victoria. We are a member driven governing body, providing a range of services, leagues and competitions for over 140 affiliated associations.
In addition to supporting?our affiliated Basketball associations, BV delivers a number of participation programs making basketball Everybody’s Game, as well as player, coach and technical official development programs to encourage the development of socially desirable attitudes and values towards physical fitness, skill acquisition and performance pathways.
Key responsibilities for the role - but are not limited to:
- Lead the delivery of 3x3 basketball programs, including 3XCup (schools and associations) and 3XTour.
- Represent Victoria as a leader in 3x3 basketball and collaborate with Basketball Australia, FIBA3x3, and local stakeholders.
- Support the development of 3x3 curriculum for coaches and officials.
- Build and drive the growth of Masters basketball through research, governance, and event delivery.
- Provide administrative and operational support across Basketball Victoria leagues and events.
- Work closely with League Managers to ensure competitions run smoothly and to a high standard.
- Act as weekend contact for Big V and VJBL competitions, resolving game-day issues.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clubs, referees, venues, and volunteers.
- Assist with planning and logistics for school competitions and major events such as Junior Country Championships and National Junior Classic.
- Research into Masters basketball both in Victoria and more broadly
- Building a governance structure for Masters basketball in Victoria
- Coordinate, develop, and deliver Basketball Victoria Masters events, while assisting associations in planning and hosting their own.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A tertiary qualification in sports management or a related discipline and/or minimum 3 years’ experience in a related field
- Financial and budgeting acumen
- Collaborative approach to achieving major outcomes
- Experience in a sport, peak-body or not-for-profit setting
- Experience in the interpretation and application of the Rules of Play
- Understanding of basketball or the broader sports sector in Australia.
- Current driver’s licence
- Current Working With Children Check – or the ability to obtain one
Desirable
- History in fixturing and/or sport competition administration
- Understanding of 3x3 basketball
- Experience in development of alternative formats of mainstream sports
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
- Ability to communicate in a clear, professional manner across all communication channels
- Knowledge and understanding of Victorian basketball
- Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience in a sports administration, peak-body, or not-for-profit setting
- Able to demonstrate Basketball Victoria's organisational values
- Experience in game day operations within community level sport, preferably in basketball

This role will be based at Wantirna South but involves travel around Victoria and includes evening and weekend work overseeing activity. Employees will be reimbursed for travel expenses.
