In your capacity as the 1st Colts assistant forwards coach for Warringah Rugby Club Colts, you will be working with the head colts coach and oversee the forwards set piece program for colts. This entails the development, execution, administration, and bolstering of the Colts forwards set piece program rugby initiative, all while maintaining close collaboration with the colts head coach and where necessary the Warringah Rugby Club head coach, WRC rugby director and general manager, aligning with the framework of the Club's rugby program and strategic vision.
At the core of this role is the establishment of a high-performance program to refine and improve upon the success of the Warringah Rugby Club colts program last year but also long-term viability. The ultimate objective is to foster the emergence of representative players and continue with the successful colts program to achieve grand final position for all 3 teams and the Colts Competition. This aligns with our clubs ambition to achieve Club Championships in2026 and the Club's overall success.
Contract is for 1 year
Coaching positions and performance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and specifically at a set time approximately midway through each season.
Reporting to: WRC president, rugby director and general manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishment and management of a High-Performance set piece forwards Colts program.
- Develop strategies to enhance the performance and development of elite Colts players and Coaches within the Colts Program.
- Work with the WRC colts coach and where necessary the WRC head coach and rugby director to identify players and coaches.
- Ensure program alignment with the Club’s colts and head coach
- Player recruitment to colts and retention as they progress to grade.
WRC Rugby Program:
- Implement the Warringah style of play and ensure this is driven across the Colts.
- Recruit and retain local elite players to the Colts program.
- In conjunction with the WRC leadership team, identify and recruit current or required elite players for the Colts program to ensure all teams are filled.
- Provide weekly match reports for 1st Grade and across the club.
- Assist with support staff appointments across all Colts teams, Rats Rising Academy and Colts Sevens program.
- Be available and present at all NSWRU or SRU events
Responsible for out-of-season planning such as:
- Player progression plan
- Pre-season, Mid-season and Post-season review
- Whole Club planning
- New season periodised plan/calendar for the Colts forwards program
Responsible for in-season planning and player review such as:
- Team review accompanied by footage
- Individual Player Reviews where necessary in conjunction with head colts coach
- Weekly Training Plans
- Assist, when required, with selections in line with WRC selection policy is adhered to.
Role requirements:
- ARU Level 2 Coach or higher
- Smart Rugby
- Work with Children
- Extensive experience as a Rugby Union coach
- Strong knowledge of the game and its technical aspects.
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful training programs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to build relationships with players, coaching staff, and the local community.
- Organisational and administrative skills to manage various aspects of the rugby program.
- Experience in budgeting and financial management, including the ability to effectively allocate resources and manage expenses within the designated budget.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, based on game schedules and training sessions.
