About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Aquatic Centre Manager to lead the operations of the BBC Swimming Pool and deliver an industry-leading swimming program for students and the broader community.
Reporting to the Director of Aquatics, this role is responsible for managing, coordinating, and developing BBC’s swimming programs, while ensuring operational efficiency, financial compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the pool timetable for commercial, academic, and school-based aquatics activities in collaboration with the Director of Aquatics and relevant staff.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of programs.
- Develop curriculum, pedagogy, and progression pathways in partnership with the Director of Aquatics, Junior School, and coaching staff.
- Supervise swim lessons to ensure consistent delivery aligned with curriculum and objectives.
- Oversee billing and invoicing for Learn to Swim and Squad programs.
- Ensure budgetary compliance and efficient financial management.
- Recruit, train, and support qualified staff, maintaining compliance with BBC employment and qualification standards.
- Ensure the BBC Pool operates in line with best practice for risk management, compliance, and safety.
- Plan and deliver school holiday swim programs.
- Deliver in-water teaching as required in the event of staff shortages.
About You:
You are an experienced aquatic professional with a passion for developing high-quality programs and fostering participation at all levels. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoy leading teams to achieve excellence.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Strong operational and organisational management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to deliver a wide range of swimming objectives
- Demonstrated experience managing staff and operations within a swimming or aquatic environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Knowledge and understanding of swimming techniques, development methods and
- Experience in the sport of swimming, with a background in Aquatic Management/Learn to Swim preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid - required
- Swimming teaching qualification via Austswim or Swim Australia (preferred)
- Royal Lifesaving Pool lifeguarding qualifications (preferred), or a willingness to obtain
