The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is on a bold journey towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond. Following the extraordinary success of Queensland athletes at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are now focused on delivering even more medal-winning moments through to Los Angeles 2028 and our home Games in 2032.
Our ambitious high-performance strategy for the 2032 Games is to create more medal-winning moments for Queensland athletes that inspire their state and nation. While our strategy guides our performance, our culture truly delivers it. Given our vision, our culture is vitally important to us.
We are seeking talented, motivated individuals whose values and behaviours align with our team and culture. If you are passionate about high performance, committed to continuous improvement, and want to be part of something transformational, we invite you to join us on this exciting journey as a casual relieving Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach.
By joining our continuous applicant pool, you will have the opportunity to support a range of sports and locations, working with elite athletes in a casual capacity. This is your chance to make an impact in a dynamic and rewarding environment while contributing to extraordinary sporting success.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Provide world-leading evidence-based strength and conditioning services and advice to coaches and QAS categorised athletes in line with each athlete’s Individual Athlete Performance Plan (IAPP), which is aligned with their What It Takes to Win (WITTW) framework.
- Deliver specific and relevant performance testing and tracking/monitoring for QAS categorised athletes, providing timely feedback to the coaches, athletes and Performance Support team members.
- Contribute to the development of IAPPs and assist in regularly reviewing the associated specific development priorities and performance metrics to measure progress.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary performance support team that creates a high-performance environment to provide an integrated program based on the level and needs for QAS-supported athletes. This includes spending an appropriate amount of time in the daily performance environment (DPE) and attending weekly Performance Support team meetings.
- Regularly liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to collaboratively identify current sport specific S&C trends to deliver high quality integrated outcomes.
Important Information:
- Engagements will be casual and based on organisational needs.
- The submission of an application to this pool does not guarantee a permanent offer of employment. The pool is accessed to backfill S&C roles for short periods of time and hours may vary.
- Candidates will be added to the applicant pool and contacted as opportunities arise. Additional selection processes (interview, reference checks and preemployment checks) to further assess suitability for appointment to a specific position may be required.
- By submitting an application to the pool, you will not automatically be considered for all other QAS advertised vacancies. If you wish to be considered for a specific advertised vacancy, please ensure you submit your application for the relevant vacancy via the job search website and follow the process outlined for that vacancy.
