About the Role
Newington College is seeking a passionate and experienced Defensive Coordinator to join our high-performance rugby program. This casual coaching role offers a unique opportunity to shape the rugby journey of students from Prep through to Senior levels, within a school that values teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement.
As a proud member of the AAGPS rugby competition, Newington has a rich sporting tradition and a commitment to excellence. The successful candidate will work closely with our coaching team to develop and implement defensive strategies across the program, with a particular focus on the Senior squads.
About You
We have deliberately not provided set and narrow selection criteria. However, it is expected that the successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate expertise in rugby coaching, particularly in defensive systems and player development
- Have experience coaching youth or junior programs, ideally within a school setting
- Be confident working across the Senior Program (1st and 2nd XV), and mentoring younger age groups
- Possess strong communication and collaboration skills
- Show a genuine commitment to student wellbeing and individual learning needs
- Be adaptable, reliable, and able to build trust with students and colleagues
- Understand and adhere to the College’s Child Safeguarding policies and practices
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Child Safeguarding at Newington
