The Gold Coast SUNS are seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to drive the next phase of our AFLW program. This role is responsible for leading the strategic, operational and high-performance aspects of the Women’s Football program, ensuring our players and staff are supported to perform at their best – on and off the field.
What You’ll Lead
- Develop and deliver the Women’s Football strategy in alignment with club values and AFLW competition requirements.
- Lead a high-performance environment that drives accountability, care and continuous improvement.
- Oversee all aspects of football operations including staffing, player contracting, budgets, logistics, scheduling and compliance.
- Build strong relationships with players and staff ensuring a unified commitment to team goals and the Club’s vision.
- Represent the AFLW program internally and externally – including media, AFL forums, sponsors and community engagements.
- Lead a culture that supports the holistic development, wellbeing and empowerment of female athletes.

Leadership & Culture
- Proven experience leading people and teams within an elite sport or high-performance environment.
- Ability to set standards, have tough conversations and hold others to account while building trust and respect.
High Performance & Strategy
- Strong understanding of AFL/AFLW high-performance systems, list management and player development pathways.
- Experience working with or supporting female athletes in elite sporting environments.
Relationships & Influence
- Demonstrated ability to build deep, trusting relationships with players and staff.
- Skilled at influencing and collaborating with stakeholders at executive, AFL, sponsor and community levels.
- Confident communicator with presence in media, presentations and leadership forums.
Operational & Administrative Excellence
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and act decisively.
