Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) is on the hunt for a driven and experienced Events & Match Day Operations Manager to lead the planning and delivery of world-class rugby events - from major Reds fixtures to community events that celebrate our game at every level.
About the Role
As the Events & Match Day Operations Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the seamless delivery of QRU events & match days. From the roar of the crowd at Suncorp Stadium to the excitement of community game days at Ballymore, you’ll ensure every detail is executed with precision, creativity, and passion.
This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and highly collaborative. You’ll work across departments, manage key stakeholders, and lead event-day teams to support exceptional event experience for fans, partners, players, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver QRU events and match day operations, including Queensland Reds men’s and women’s home games.
- Oversee venue logistics, scheduling, supplier coordination, and event staffing.
- Manage event budgets, contracts, and compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Liaise with internal teams, broadcasters, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless event execution.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency and event innovation.
- Lead and mentor event day staff and volunteers to uphold QRU’s standards of excellence
We’re Looking for someone who”
- Has a proven track record in large-scale event or match day operations (sports or entertainment preferred).
- Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments with multiple moving parts.
- Is highly organised, detail-oriented, and a confident leader.
- Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively across teams.
- Brings creativity, initiative, and a genuine passion for delivering unforgettable rugby events
Desirable Extras
While not essential, it’d be great if you also bring:
- Experience working within a professional sporting organisation or stadium environment.
- Knowledge of Queensland’s sporting landscape.
- Familiarity with event management software and ticketing systems.
- Strong understanding of broadcast, sponsor, and media operations on event days.
- Tertiary qualifications in Event Management, Sports Management, or a related field.
- Current First Aid and RSA certifications.
- A love of rugby and a commitment to growing the game in Queensland!
