About the Role
The Women in Sport Development Officer plays a key role in advancing gender equity in sport and active recreation across the Shire. This position is responsible for leading the implementation of the Shire’s Fair Access Action Plan, ensuring that local sport and recreation environments are inclusive, safe, and welcoming for women (including cis, trans, and gender-diverse individuals), girls, and underrepresented groups.
Reporting to the Coordinator – Peninsula Sport Development, the core responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of the Shire’s Fair Access Action Plan
- Coordinating the Peninsula Women in Sport Leadership Network
- Supporting and advocating for gender-equitable access to sports facilities
- Supporting local clubs to develop and implement Fair Access Action Plans
- Delivering targeted Club Development Training sessions
- Promoting gender-inclusive sport and active recreation initiatives
About You
You’re qualified in sport and recreation (tertiary qualification), with experience in community sport, governance, and gender equity. You bring strong strategic thinking, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills, along with solid data analysis and reporting capabilities. You're confident using MS Office and have worked in complex organisations like local government.
