About the role
The Head of Players with Disability (PWD) is responsible for driving the strategic direction of all PWD Performance pathways under the supervision of the Director of Performance Operations. The goal is to ensure sustainable success across our targeted disability pathways. More specifically, this role must co-create the PWD strategy, to meet the overarching goal to be world leaders in PWD tennis whilst aligning to the Performance Philosophy and Tennis 2030 strategy. Supporting this, the role will be responsible for managing national representative teams including (by not limited to) the Paralympics and World Team Cup.
In this role you will:
- Co-create and drive the strategic direction for all PWD pathways to ensure sustainable success.
- Work closely with the Diversity and Inclusion team to ensure alignment of strategies and approaches.
- Develop strong working relationships with PWD players and their teams.
- Oversee and manage the logistical requirements for approved tours and national representative team events.
- Assist with the development and delivery of a strategic plan that encompasses all relevant PWD pathways and ensures a growth in player numbers and long-term success.
- Create a culture that embraces open and honest communication, feedback and continuous development.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven ability to develop and implement a high-performance tennis program for athletes.
- Experience leading high performance sport, both directly with players, equally proven experience in influencing the environments of players not directly under your remit.
- Proven experience in sports administration, including the development of long-term strategic plans, leadership of staff and management of large budgets.
- Direct leadership experience with elite teams, preferably at an international level.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
- Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia.
