Description

We are looking to engage a suitably qualified Sport/Performance Psychologists to join the Rowing Australia (RA) Women’s National Training Centre (NTC). This role is for someone who is compassionate, empathic and who enjoys working as part of a team. The Sport Psychologist will work closely with the Head Coach, Performance Director, Head of Performance Support, and Lead Psychologist who are leading the RA Program.

This is a part-time contract opportunity for up to 10.5 hours.

A current, valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance is a mandatory requirement for the role.

Key Responsibilities

The practitioner will be to work with the stakeholders  to:

  • Develop curriculum content aligned to the RA psychological requirements framework.
  • Utilise lived experience and expertise from both current staff, coaches, athletes and alumni in the development and delivery of content.
  • Identify experts within the performance team to support delivery of the curriculum.
  • Develop innovative and engaging ways to deliver the RA WNTC psychology program to athletes and coaches using a variety of learning modalities.
  • Periodise, schedule, and coordinate the delivery of the psychology program for athletes and coaches.
  • Support and empower coaches to co-design and deliver the psychology program.
  • Track the progress of athletes engaged in the psychology program and report on progress to the RA HP Team.
  • Liaise with HP Program staff regarding any specific presenting issues of athletes arising from engagement that may require onward referral or management.

You will have:

  • Current registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
  • 5+ years of experience delivering psychology services to NSO’s or high performance athletes
  • Demonstrated understanding of the requirements of high-performance athletes and coaches
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of evidence-based processes to restore and enhance psychological functioning in high-performance contexts
  • Provision and application of performance psychology services in sports with similar contextual demands in competition is desired

Essential Requirements

  • Applied Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology
  • A minimum of Provisional Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current driver’s license
  • Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) Anti-doping Fundamentals & Annual Update
  • Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) Child Protection and Safeguarding

Desirable Requirements

  • Endorsement with the College of Sport and Exercise Psychology – Australian Psychological Society (APS)
