Description

Fuel the Cowboys’ Success

At the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, we’re more than a team – we are Northern Australia’s premier sporting club, committed to building pathways for local talent and making a positive impact in our community. We’re searching for a passionate Dietitian to help fuel our NRL, NRLW and elite Pathway squads, supporting our mission for the success of football across North Queensland.

Your Impact

Reporting to the Head of Performance, you’ll apply your specialist knowledge to design and deliver nutrition strategies that directly support our NRL and NRLW athletes. Through personalised assessments, tailored meal planning, and ongoing education, you’ll empower our players to maximise their energy, resilience, and recovery—ensuring they’re fuelled for peak performance every time they step onto the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver evidence-based nutrition programs that enhance athletic performance, accelerate recovery, and support long-term health for NRL, NRLW, and Academy athletes.
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and translate findings into personalised meal plans, supplement protocols, and hydration strategies.
  • Provide hands-on support for training, travel, and competition—including menu planning and fuelling stations.
  • Lead engaging workshops and one-on-one consultations to educate players and staff on the latest in sports nutrition, fuelling, and lifestyle habits.
  • Partner with chefs, catering teams, and facility staff to create performance-focused menus that meet the cultural and diverse needs of our athletes.
  • Ensure all nutrition and supplementation practices comply with anti-doping regulations and uphold the highest standards of integrity.
  • Collaborate with medical, strength & conditioning, and coaching staff to integrate nutrition into holistic athlete care and injury prevention.
  • Analyse performance data and contribute to ongoing research, innovation, and continuous improvement in sports nutrition practices.
  • Handle the NRL record keeping and compliance for the nutritional program at the Club.

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Dietetics or Nutrition Science
  • Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and Sports Dietitian (SDA) status (or the ability to achieve accreditation within a 12 month period)
  • ISAK accreditation is desirable
  • Experience in elite sport, ideally rugby league or high-performance environments
  • Proven ability to design and deliver evidence-based nutrition programs

Why Cowboys?

  • Be part of a club with one of the largest footprints in the NRL, proudly representing North Queensland
  • Work in a state-of-the-art facility alongside passionate professionals
  • Help shape the future of rugby league in our region
  • Join a team that values diversity, inclusion, and community impact
