The Talent UNLSHD Women and Girls Program is a strategic initiative aimed at making Australia the dominant nation in female surfing by:
- Identifying, nurturing and developing the next generation of Australian female surfing talent
- To build a strong and sustainable female national coaching network that empowers and supports long-term athlete success.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Talent UNLSHD Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the effective national planning and execution of the Program across Australia. The role focuses on ensuring alignment between Surfing Australia, State Bodies, and key stakeholders, while managing national program operations, governance processes, and reporting requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the delivery of national program initiatives, including operational planning, national camps, workshops, and performance support integration.
- Working effectively with State CEOs, SA Head of Pathway Program and funding partners at a governance and strategic level to support aligned program planning and decision-making.
- Coordinate State Body Working Group and governance meetings to ensure national alignment and effective decision-making.
- Working in partnership with State Program Coordinators to support alignment of State Programs with national strategy, governance requirements, and agreed frameworks.
- Coordinating budget management processes, including financial tracking, acquittals, and reporting on program outcomes to Surfing Australia and funding partners.
- Planning and facilitating national coach development activities (e.g., Coach development plan online workshops) and ensuring coach development requirements are met.
- Liaising with program specialists, contractors, and partners to ensure delivery of key national deliverables.
- Supporting strategic partnerships with facilities, businesses, and service providers to enhance program delivery and impact.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: NHPD, Head of Pathway Program, SA HPP Coaches, Pathways Operational Manager, EA to HPD, Coach Development Lead, Head of Participation & Community
External: State Bodies, Network Coaches, Athletes, Parents, 3rd party travel providers, external Performance Support Providers.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operations and Reporting
- Attend regular meetings with the Head of Pathway, Pathway Operations Manager, relevant coaches and State Bodies
- Review and report on program activities.
- Manage Program issues professionally in conjunction with partners, as required.
- Professional management of facilities and resources, and effective financial and administrative coordination where required.
- Ensure best practice resources are followed and consult with Working Group for direction
- Actively align with strategy, direction and best practice principles set out.
- Support Coach State Bodies to ensuring Program Coaches are upskilling and have access to development camps, PD opportunities and mentoring & reporting requirements are met
- Establish mutually beneficial, long-term relationships with State Program Coordinators, State CEOs and other key stakeholders
- Ensure quality data capture, analysis and reporting process using required system/sport platforms.
- Lead effective financial and administrative coordination requirements where applicable.

SUCCESS PROFILE
Experience:
- 3 + years in a high performance sport environment
- Proven experience in program management and delivery
- Demonstrated commitment to work in a multi-disciplinary/sport team environment with high performance athletes and coaches.
- Experience in supervising staff to achieve performance outcomes.
- Experience in operating and managing quality control and quality assurance
- Budget management experience
Knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of Australian High Performance sport systems and the Australian Surfing Pathway
- Understanding the requirements of High Performance athletes and coaches
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
- First aid and resuscitation certificate
- Working with children check
- Current driver’s license
- Progression Surf Coach or equivalent Coaching qualification is desirable (not essential)

- This position is required to travel domestically.
- This position requires/may require weekend work, or outside ordinary work hours.
- The successful candidate for this role will be subject to a National Police Criminal History Check prior to appointment.
- The successful candidate for this role will be required to undertake a Security Clearance.
