About the Organisation
NSWCIS (CIS) aims to advance and support the holistic education of all students attending independent schools by providing a framework through which those students can pursue a representative pathway to State and National sporting competition as an athlete or offical; both within the independent school sector and between CIS and other NSW education sectors, thereby leading to enhanced educational outcomes for the students.
CIS also aims to provide the opportunity for staff of schools to enhance their skills by taking up representative positions as Team Officials at State and National sporting competitions. Representing more than 400 schools and offering pathways across 20+ sports, NSWCIS coordinates high-quality representative opportunities for thousands of students each year.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Primary Sport Operations Manager to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of all NSWCIS Primary Sport programs, trials and representative pathways.
Reporting to the Executive Officer, the Primary Sport Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full range of CIS Primary School Sport activities and events. The role requires strong organisational, interpersonal, and leadership skills to ensure all programs are delivered efficiently, safely and in accordance with NSWCIS policies and procedures.
This position will work closely with the Primary Associations Management Committee, school representative, and key stakeholders such as NSW All Schools and NSWPSSA, to ensure consistent, high-quality sporting experiences for students across the independent school sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver all aspects of CIS Primary Sport programs, including the annual calendar, event logistics, and representative team management.
- Ensure compliance with risk management, safety, and child protection requirements across all events.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Association delegates, NSW All Schools, NSWPSSA, and all participating primary schools.
- Provide professional support to the Primary Associations Management Committee & other working groups.
- Work collaboratively with the Secondary School Sport Operations Manager and the Secondary & Primary Sport Administrators to ensure efficient systems, communication, and workflow across the organisation.
- Ensure all operations are aligned with NSWCIS policies, procedures, and Codes of Conduct.
- Contribute to the ongoing review and development of operational policies and guidelines.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in school sport management or sport administration and event coordination.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Strong organisational, planning and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- a commitment to child safety, integrity in sport, and inclusive sporting participation.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small, high-performing team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office and other administration software tools such as Adobe and Canva.
- Experience with Meet Manager software - Swimming and Athletics (highly regarded).
- Tertiary qualifications in education, sport management or a related field (preferred).

- Current Australian driver's licence and reliable transport for travel to sporting venues
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
