Description

Melbourne Storm is an Australian professional rugby league club playing in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition and is the only NRL team based in Victoria. We have experienced substantial growth and success in our short history and we now have a unique opportunity for a fully accredited physiotherapist to join our Performance team for the 2026 season.

About the role

The Assistant Physiotherapist (NRL & Pathways) will be responsible for facilitating and integrating rehabilitation plans for injured players across the NRL and NSW Cup squads and managing the physiotherapy requirements of the Pathways Program. This is a full-time position on a two-year contract, reporting to the Head Physiotherapist.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Physiotherapist, medical and coaching staff within the Football Department to ensure execution of optimal performance across the NRL and NSW Cup squads, contributing to our ultimate goal of winning premierships.

As the Assistant Physiotherapist, your key focus areas will include:

  • Assist the Head Physiotherapist and Assistant NRL Physiotherapist with facilitating and integrating physical, medical, coaching and welfare involvement for all injured players with a prognosis longer than 4 weeks in the Top 30 and NRL squads.
  • Assist the Head Physiotherapist and Assistant NRL Physiotherapist with delivering, coordinating and communicating the delivery of the rehab programs including regular engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the collation of all sessions for injuries beyond 4 weeks for injury audit purposes.
  • Act as the main report for the Pathways Physiotherapist to provide link between across all levels of Melbourne Storm program (Pathways & NRL).
  • Liaise with the Jersey Flegg/NSW Cup Part-time Squad Physiotherapist to ensure clear communication and delivery of physiotherapy services as players move between teams/squads.
  • Manage physiotherapy staff and sports trainers across the wider Pathways Program to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Assist in delivery of hands on manual therapy work as and when required in the training week.
  • When required provide on field medical coverage for training sessions.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science - Physiotherapy or other relevant Tertiary Qualification’s
  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • AHPRA Registration as a Physiotherapist
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience
