ABOUT THE POSITION
The Senior Tennis Coach will be responsible for planning and implementing enjoyable, age and skill appropriate coaching programs and will contribute to the development of the Cranbrook Tennis program.
Sports coaches actively support the mission and values of Cranbrook School in developing and mentoring our students to reach their potential as athletes and young people. Your role involves developing and improving the physical skills, decision making abilities and positive sporting behaviours of our students to enable them to successfully compete within school-based competitions and beyond.
This is a full-time position in term time with some additional days to be worked in student vacation periods.
ABOUT YOU
You have a demonstrated record of being a dynamic and successful coach in your chosen sport, and be enthusiastic, patient and focused on technique.
Possessing excellent communication skills, you have the ability to engage with all stakeholders in a responsive and inclusive manner.
You are an excellent communicator, creative, and able to work well with students, parents and other teachers. You are committed to continual professional development and reflection, and have a genuine interest in the growth of young people.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Tennis Australia coaching qualification (minimum Junior Development/Club Professional Coach accreditation)
- Demonstrated experience coaching players across a range of levels and age groups (junior to senior school level)
- Experience managing teams for Inter-school competitions, tournaments and external fixtures
- Ability to develop and implement programs set by the Director of Sport P-12 and the Head of Sport - Tennis
- An active interest in and commitment to the promotion of youth sport
- Ability to role model effective behaviours while acknowledging professional boundaries
- Ability to communicate in a professional and timely manner
- Demonstrated knowledge of high-performance best practice, including awareness of developing trends in coaching technique, skill development and program growth
- A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident
- Strong physical, mental and emotional health to deal with the required demands and responsibilities of the role
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
Experience in an Independent school setting or school sporting environment will be advantageous.
