The HockeyAW Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the Chief Executive Officer of Hockey ACT (HACT) and the Board of Hockey Albury Wodonga (HockeyAW) in managing and directing the operations, facilities and communications of HockeyAW, to ensure effective use of resources and optimise the hockey experience for HockeyAW members. The HockeyAW Operations Manager will play a key role in ensuring that HockeyAW delivers the highest possible standard of service delivery to members. The Operations Manager will work closely with staff from HACT to ensure they are supported in delivering HockeyAW objectives. The successful candidate must be able to work independently to ensure the strategic objectives of the HockeyAW are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Day to day management of all HockeyAW facilities and related operational and maintenance issues including financial, accounting records, including working with Finance and Facility Director.
  2. Prepare agenda, attendance at meetings, minute taker and distribution of minutes for all Board (monthly), Presidents and Sectaries Meetings (4 per year) and AGM.
  3. Management of HockeyAW membership database system currently operated through Revolutionise Sport (Revsport).
  4. Prepare the competition draw each year for winter hockey and twilight and other competitions as they arise, in conjunction with the Competition Director.
  5. Assist all Board Directors with their various portfolios and offer operational assistance where required.
  6. Assist Board Members in development of policy and procedures where required.
  7. Assess and eliminate risk with regular safety inspections across all facilities.
  8. Manage HockeyAW facility bookings including opening and closing, light schedules, independent contractors, general maintenance arrangements and security arrangements.
  9. Coordination of any major works programs undertaken by HockeyAW in conjunction with Directors.
  10. Oversee all aspects of canteen operations.
  11. Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety requirements. Making sure no actions taken by any employee or volunteers interfere with or place at risk the health and safety of any person at HockeyAW.
  12. Fulfill any other duties as directed by the Board that are reasonably within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.

Hockey Albury Wodonga (HockeyAW) is the not-for-profit local sporting organization responsible for the development, governance, promotion and delivery of hockey programs within the Southern Riverina/North East Victoria region. HockeyAW comprises of 9 member clubs and operates 2 facilities; Albury Hockey Fields (2 synthetic fields) and 1 synthetic field at Wodonga Hockey Field.

HACT comprises of 22 member clubs and owns and operates two facilities The National Hockey Centre at Lyneham and Tuggeranong Hockey Park, Greenway. REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Excellent communication, presentation and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • High level of enthusiasm with a positive and proactive approach.
  • Flexibility to work weekends as required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Current or a willingness to obtain a VIC and NSW Working with Children’s check.

Desirable

  • Qualification in business admin and or sports administration
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the management and operation of hockey or other sporting facility
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Sound knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including MYOB

EXPERIENCE 

  • Experience managing tasks across several different areas.
  • Ability to independently manage own workload
  • Experience working with and managing contractors, staff and volunteers within a relevant field.
  • Effective communication skills across multi stakeholders

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
