ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW
Basketball NSW (BNSW) is the governing body for basketball in New South Wales. Our vision is to unite communities by enabling participants to realise their potential through every level of our game. We deliver competitions, development programs, and officiating pathways, supporting over 80 affiliated associations and thousands of players, coaches, referees, and technical officials across the state.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Technical Officials Administration Officer is responsible for the effective coordination and administration of Basketball NSW’s technical officiating programs. This role supports the smooth delivery of officiating at events, manages appointments, training, and accreditation processes, and contributes to the development pathway for officials. While officiating accreditation is not required, strong administrative skills and knowledge of basketball, particularly within the NSW context, will be highly valued. By providing operational and administrative support, this role helps build a professional and well-structured officiating environment that supports the growth of the game.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration & Coordination
- Manage day-to-day administration for technical officials, including event rosters, travel bookings, and communications.
- Maintain accurate records of technical officials’ accreditation, training, and availability.
- Coordinate payments and reimbursements for technical officials.
- Prepare and distribute event documentation and guidelines.
Event & Competition Support
- Assist with the appointment of technical officials for BNSW events and competitions.
- Liaise with Event Managers, Competition Managers, and Head of Technical Officials to ensure officials are resourced appropriately.
- Provide on-site administrative and operational support at key events where required.
Pathway & Development Support
- Support delivery of education, training, and development initiatives for technical officials.
- Maintain updated resources and learning materials for officials.
- Assist with communication of pathway opportunities and recognition programs.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key point of contact for technical officials regarding appointments, development, and administration.
- Liaise with associations to support local technical officials’ needs.
- Build positive working relationships with officials, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all technical officials meet relevant compliance requirements, including Working With Children Checks and Code of Conduct acknowledgements.
- Maintain reporting for program participation, expenses, and official appointments.
- Contribute to reviews and reports for management and committees.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management.
- Experience working in a sports or events environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during events.
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check
- Hold a valid driver’s licence
- Have full working rights in Australia (Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident).
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Understanding of basketball in NSW
- Experience in sports officiating or event operations.
- Familiarity with online appointment and rostering systems.
