Basketball Australia is seeking a dynamic Head Coach to lead the Devils U25 Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball Team towards the 2027 IWBF U25 World Championship and help shape the next generation of Gliders athletes.
You’ll provide leadership, technical and tactical expertise, and drive the program forward by delivering high-quality training camps, tournaments, and game plans. Working closely with support staff and BA’s women’s programs, you’ll ensure athletes are prepared to perform at their best on the international stage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the U25 program with a clear focus on long-term athlete and team development.
- Provide technical and tactical game expertise, and oversee the design and delivery of team strategies and game plans.
- Prepare, engage, and lead on-court sessions at camps and tournaments.
- Collaborate with a team of support staff to deliver high-performance coaching and support services.
- Work closely with the Gliders Head Coach, 3x3 Head Coach, support staff, and BA management to align pathway development.
- Continually challenge and improve program systems and structures to support athlete progression.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in elite coaching, preferably within wheelchair basketball or a high-performance sporting environment.
- Strong technical, tactical, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop athletes.
- Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
- A commitment to athlete development and fostering a high-performance culture.
Other relevant Information
This position will require domestic and some international travel.
Due to the nature of the industry the role will require work to be undertaken on some weekends in line with events or competitions.
You must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or a visa permitting you to work in Australia. You are required to notify the Head of People & Culture if your right to work in Australia ceases.
You must maintain a current Working with Children or Working with Vulnerable People Certification.
Basketball Australia will pay all reasonable expenses incurred when the Head Coach position when involved with approved national team activities. This could include flight costs, team travel associated costs and accommodation expenses.
If the Head Coach happens to sustain an injury while involved in national team activities, such injury will be covered under BA’s sports injury insurance policy.
