Lead the enhancement and implementation of Rugby Australia’s Injury Surveillance System to ensure the collection of accurate, high-quality, and up-to-date injury data. Apply the system consistently across all men’s and women’s programs.
Maintain Rugby Australia’s centralised data management system, ensuring it functions as a reliable and secure hub for data storage, retrieval, analysis, and sharing. Support improved data accessibility and integrity across departments and stakeholders.
Oversee the performance and functionality of all technological platforms used within the high-performance department. This includes maintaining and optimising hardware, software, and infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency and system reliability.
Provide high-performance services in sports science to national and domestic teams as required, while offering centralised support and guidance to state-based programs and personnel to promote alignment and best practices across all levels.
Coordinate Wallaroos and Super Rugby Women's sports science useage
Support the strength and conditioning delivery to national programs on occasions
Key Accountabilities
Injury Surveillance System
Lead the implementation and ongoing management of Rugby Australia’ Injury Surveillance System across all national programs, including Men’s and Women’s XVs, Sevens, and Academy teams. This system will enable the comprehensive collection, monitoring, and analysis of injury trends.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data entered into the Athlete Management System (AMS) by overseeing data quality processes. This includes liaising with relevant medical personnel, onboarding new staff, and delivering ongoing education and support to uphold high data quality standards.
Regularly report injury trends and insights to key stakeholders to support evidence-informed decision-making. These reports will contribute to the development and implementation of injury prevention strategies and initiatives to ehance player health and welfare across all programs.
AMS Administration
Responsible for the administration, education, and effective use of our AMS with an emphasis on education, engagement and influencing utilisation.
Record, manage and prioritise a backlog of projects and support tickets.
Manage user permissions as users transition through various roles within the organisation and AMS system.
Facilitate the correct levels of access to users.
Build AMS forms to collect data (as required).
Audit form usage and user access as required.
Build and maintain dashboards from time to time with the priority being building within Tableau (as required).
Facilitate the delivery of the Rugby Australia AMS roadmap and provide regular updates as part of this plan.
Data Management
Responsible for leading the quality of data flowing in from each team into AMS, whether that is data entered directly in AMS (e.g. Check-In), or data flowing from connected source systems (e.g. Catapult GPS data, TeamBuildr Strength data, etc).
Escalate to Head of Performance Science, Data & Technology if consistent data quality issues need to be addressed
Manage the adherence of Rugby Australia’s data standards as per protocols. If protocols need to be clarified, this person will be proactive in addressing with Head of Performance Science, Data & Technology and relevant head of discipline (Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Medical).
Responsible for the flow of data out of AMS and into our data warehouse for analytics purposes.
High-Performance Administration
Lead the engagement with feeder products/tools that integrate into Smartabase e.g. Catapult, VALD, Swift, TeamBuildr, etc.
Responsible for the administration (in relation to integrations with AMS), education, and effective use of technology as part of the high-performance environment
Keeping a database of nationally used tools to ensure there is clarity on our chosen tools, where they are located, users etc.
Responsible for the integration of these data points to AMS to ensure data enters our ecosystem for longitudinal storage.
Performance Support - National Programs
As required, assist with the coordination and delivery of High-Performance programmes and projects in relation to sports science and/or strength conditioning services.
