The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is on a bold journey towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond. Following the extraordinary success of Queensland athletes at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are now focused on delivering even more medal-winning moments through to Los Angeles 2028 and our home Games in 2032.

The QAS Swimming Sports Dietitian is responsible for providing world leading, evidence-based sports nutrition support that enables high performance outcomes to categorised swimmers and coaches in the Gold Coast Swimming Hub and surrounding region.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert, evidence-based sports nutrition support to categorised swimmers and coaches in the Gold Coast Swimming Hub, in alignment with each Athlete’s individual performance plan.  
  • Facilitate the support and education of categorised swimmers and coaches in the Gold Coast region in programs outside of the Gold Coast Hub. 
  • Collect targeted and relevant, testing and monitoring for categorised athletes. Provide timely, accurate and meaningful reporting of data to coaches, athletes and performance support team members to facilitate performance focused decision making. 
  • Undertake and oversee Body Composition assessments if indicated, and in accordance with the QAS/NSO guidelines.  
  • Store and share accurate and timely athlete data in the Athlete Management System (AMS), and other approved platforms in line with professional standards, the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and Swimming Australia (SA) expectations. QAS require upload of consultation details into the QAS AMS within 48hrs of consulting with an athlete.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current Provide/Perform CPR
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • ABN and current Public Liability & Indemnity Insurance
  • Ethical supplier Threshold
  • Accredited Practicing Dietitian (DA)
  • Accredited Sports Dietitian (SDA)
  • Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA) Sports Nutrition Course or Tertiary course recognised by Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA)
  • ISAK Accreditation
  • Experience working with elite athletes embedded in high performance systems/professional sports.
