Sydney’s premier entertainment venue, Qudos Bank Arena, is looking to appoint an experienced event operations supervisor for the role of Technical Operations Supervisor.

Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, this hands-on role has oversight of all Arena operational set-ups and set-downs through the supervision of casual Technical Operations staff and contractors. It provides operational support to the Department by monitoring hirer-engaged vendors during production load-ins and load-outs. This role will interact with internal departments and external clients.

The role requires regular work outside standard hours, including weeknights, weekends, and overnights, in line with our event calendar.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Oversee the set-up and set-down of all events held at the Arena, including interacting with both internal and external stakeholders, and facilitating their requirements during bump-in, show, and bump-out as required by the event schedule.
  • Liaise with the hirer representatives and their vendors to facilitate event requirements.
  • Be the primary Technical Operations contact for onsite production representatives and/or hirers as required by the needs of the Department.
  • Oversee the set-up of the Arena’s equipment, including assembling stages, setting retractable and floor seating, installing stage barricades, rigging curtains, and laying basketball courts or other sporting equipment.
  • Supervise casual staff, maintaining productivity levels and ensuring tasks are completed on time.
  • Ensure Toolbox Talks and inductions are carried out and recorded in line with Arena procedures for plant and restricted areas for all staff, contractors, and service providers.
  • Fulfil roles within the Emergency Control Organisation, including Chief Warden and Deputy Chief Warden duties during bump-in and bump-out.

About You

You are a hands-on leader who can remain calm under pressure and take pride in delivering high-quality event setups.

You will also bring:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising staff, ideally in the live events industry.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling and heavy lifting as part of daily duties.
  • Strong understanding of event operations and production requirements.
  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Current Forklift High Risk Work Licence with relevant experience (required).
  • Experience with basic power tools (required).
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • High Risk Licences for Rigging and Elevated Work Platforms (desired).
  • MS Office skills and general computer literacy (preferred).
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Current police check.
