About Queensland Athletics
Queensland Athletics (QA) is the peak body for track & field, cross country, and recreational running in Queensland. We support more than 17,000 members across 82 clubs - 40 of them in regional Queensland - and deliver events all year round, from grassroots fun runs to elite-level championships.
We also run Qrun, our recreational running arm, partnering with more than 45 groups and 65 events to connect tens of thousands of Queenslanders to the sport.

Why this role?
This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference to the sport of athletics in Queensland in the lead up to the 2032 Olympics. It’s a varied and multifaced role within a small, dedicated team - ideal for an organised and adaptable team player. You’ll work closely with our competition, administration, and sport staff, as well as clubs and members to deliver athletics across Queensland. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with technical systems, develop strong administrative skills, and contribute to social media engagement - keeping the sport connected both on the track and online.
What you’ll do
Event Delivery & Technical Support
- Help plan and run events from start to finish - from scheduling and venue preparation to event-day operations.
- Manage equipment set-up and pack-down.
- Learn and operate competition software: Hy-Tek, FinishLynx, Roster, and AthleticLive.
- Step in to lead delivery when required.
Administration Coordination
- Prepare event programs, start lists, and athlete information.
- Maintain up-to-date athlete and official records in RevSport.
- Work with Operations Manager and competition staff to support officials and external events.
- Assist in efficient functions of the office
- Provide support to Clubs and Members
- Ensure prompt and supportive communications with stakeholders
- Assist the Operations Manager in financial support.
- Communicate clearly with officials, schools, and event partners.
School & Community Engagement
- Work with the Operations Manager and competition staff to support delivery of technical support and officials’ services to school athletics events.
- Support and facilitate communication with clubs, members and other stakeholders
- Support community initiatives to bring more people into the sport.
What we’re looking for
We’re after someone who’s proactive, adaptable, and ready to take ownership.
You’ll bring:
- Ability or willingness to learn athletics competition software (Hy-Tek, FinishLynx, Roster, AthleticLive).
- Confidence to help run events for both Queensland Athletics and schools.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent administration skills.
- Demonstrated abilities or ability to learn skills with social media.
- A team-first mindset - willing to jump in wherever needed.
- Flexibility to work weekends and variable hours during competition seasons.
