We are seeking a highly engaging, motivated and experienced basketball coach to implement and oversee the running of all junior basketball programs. The role includes working closely with the Director of Coaching (DOC) and the Operations Manager to implement, facilitate and continue to enhance basketball programs.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
Two-year part-time contract, subject to contract extension based on performance and project needs.
Availability to work weekends when required.
Successful candidates will be highly motivated and energetic, possessing a good understanding of the fundamentals of basketball
The BDO will be equipped with both technical and personable skills and values to help WCBA lead the way to build an Association of continued Excellence, creating opportunities and opening up high level basketball pathways to our athletes, while providing a fun and engaging environment for all talents and abilities.

Sporting Schools Programs & School Clinics
Domestic Development Academy (DDA)
Rep Development Academy (RDA) (supported from DOC)
Domestic Club Player & Coaches Clinics
WCBA Domestic Camps & Clinics
WCBA Representative Camps & Clinics (supported by the DOC)
Walking Basktball
Other BDO responsibilities include:
Assist in the creation and development of new activities / programs in consultation with the DOC
Representative Program (VJBL) - Assist DOC where required, including and not limited to:
Registrations
Try-outs
Team selections
Coach and player development
Communications
Monthly reporting to the Operations Manager
REQUIREMENTS
Current Coaching accreditation - at least Association Coach Accreditation
In-depth knowledge of basketball fundamentals, individual skill development and team concepts, including offensive and defensive principles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to respond, problem solve and prevent / resolve difficult situations
Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently
High energy coach that can engage and motivate players
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A permanent right to work in Australia
To have or willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Current and valid driver’s licence
Relevant coaching accreditation
At least 5 years’ experience coaching basketball or working with children in a teaching or mentoring capacity
