The role of Performance Support Manager
The Performance Support Manager will lead the development and delivery of Skateboarding High Performance, performance support plans, systems and processes within the daily performance environment and the national team environment, in collaboration with the SIS/SAS, with an underpinning philosophy that health is a key enabler to performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership in partnership with State Institutes and Academies of Sport (SIS/SAS) to deliver high-quality performance support to athletes and coaches.
- Design and implement systems and processes to optimise athlete readiness, wellbeing, and availability, including injury/illness surveillance, load monitoring, and screening programs.
- Drive alignment of daily training environments with athlete Individual Performance Plans and national HP objectives.
- Lead the integration of performance support into campaign planning, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the LA Olympics and future Games.
- Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across SIS/SAS partners and the skateboarding industry to build a unified, high-performing system.
- Ensure HP policies, standards, and practices align with industry best practice and meet the unique needs of the skateboarding high performance environment.
- Establish and oversee quality assurance frameworks for data capture, analysis, and reporting using relevant sport systems and platforms.
- Develop and maintain clear reporting processes with the GM High Performance to inform strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Champion a values-led culture that reflects the skateboarding community and supports performance, inclusion, and athlete engagement on and off the park.
- Lead communication and relationship management across athletes, coaches, and support staff to ensure clarity, alignment, and empowerment.
- Weekend work or outside ordinary hours work is required as part of the role
- This position is required to travel domestically and internationally
This is a part time (2.5 days a week), fixed term contract until 31 December 2028.
The location of this role is the South East QLD location preferred, however Skate Australia are open to alternative locations for the right candidate.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to foster trust-based relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Compelling written and verbal communication, capable of influencing, presenting, and engaging effectively at all levels
- At least 4 years’ relevant experience working in a significant contributory role in an elite professional team environment or national sporting organisation
- Experience developing and implementing performance support and health frameworks
- Experience working with skateboarding, emerging or action sport culture and communities (desirable)
- Experience working with children, young people (and their families)
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Australian High Performance sport system
- Demonstrated ability to analyse data, interpret results and produce reports for coaches and staff to influence athlete performances.
Essential Requirements
- Registration as a Physiotherapist or equivalent Australian registration in another performance support discipline (e.g., Nutrition, S & C etc.)
- National Police / Criminal History Check
- Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
- A motor vehicle licence and own vehicle is required
- You must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or a visa permitting you to work in Australia.
