The role of High Performance Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, High Performance, the High Performance Operations Manager is responsible for delivering the operational and logistical infrastructure that supports Skate Australia's high performance (HP) program.

Working closely with the Operations & Performance Support Coordinator this includes oversight and at times delivery of, camps, competitions, athlete services and team operations in line with the strategic objectives of Skate Australia and the AIS Performance Pathways and HP Investment Frameworks.

The role ensures seamless execution of the national HP plan, underpinned by athlete wellbeing, system alignment, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the High Performance (HP) Program, including camps, competitions, and international tours.
  • Manage logistics such as travel, accommodation, equipment, uniforms, and compliance with national and international sporting regulations.
  • Coordinate with key partners including the AOC, Sport Integrity Australia, World Skate, and other international bodies.
  • Provide executive support to the HP Committee and Selection Panel, including communications and meeting coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with Sport Integrity Australia standards, anti-doping policies, and athlete safeguarding frameworks.
  • Oversee risk management, including travel risk assessments, health and safety protocols, and incident reporting.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for athletes, coaches, staff, and families, fostering a culture of wellbeing, ethical sport, and high performance.
  • Lead post-competition reviews and drive continuous improvement in operational processes and systems.
  • Some after hours or weekend work will be part of the role
  • This position will require domestic travel and may require overseas travel

This is a full time, fixed term contract until 31 December 2028.

The location of this role is Gold Coast, QLD, however Skate Australia are open to other locations for the right candidate.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Solutions-focused with strong initiative and the ability to follow through on complex operational tasks.
  • Calm, composed, and adaptable in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Committed to athlete-centred thinking, wellbeing, and ethical sporting practices.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and accountability in all aspects of work.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in operations, logistics, or program management, ideally within a high performance or elite sport environment.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and meeting funding body requirements (e.g., AIS, ASC).
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including coaches, medical and performance support staff.
  • Familiarity with integrity, anti-doping, and athlete safeguarding frameworks and compliance obligations.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Business, Event Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • First Aid Certificate
  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • You must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or a visa permitting you to work in Australia.
