AFL Masters provides an opportunity for players aged 35 and over to continue enjoying Australian Rules Football in a safe, supportive, and socially inclusive environment. Clubs across the Victorian metropolitan area play every second Sunday, balancing fitness, fun, and family commitments.

With a standardised set of modified rules to reduce injury risk and the backing of the AFL and the Australian Sports Commission, AFL Masters offers a meaningful and enjoyable football experience.

Purpose of the Role

The Operations Coordinator supports the administration and delivery of AFL Masters Vic Metro competitions and programs to a high professional standard. This role is integral to ensuring smooth operations and communications across clubs, stakeholders, and AFL-related platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer AFLVM competitions in line with AFL and AFL Victoria policies and procedures.
  • Audit team sheets, match scores, umpire feedback, and player qualification data.
  • Assist with PlayHQ setup, including grading, fixtures, finals, and ongoing support for club users.
  • Support registration and administration for the National Carnival and coordinate merchandise orders.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clubs regarding player registration and eligibility.
  • Monitor and report weekly Red, Yellow & Green card infringements and suspensions.
  • Review and verify reregistered player profiles to ensure AFLVM eligibility compliance.
  • Coordinate and enter data across PlayHQ and Officials HQ.
  • Liaise with the Umpire Coordinator and report incidents/suspensions to the Operations Manager.
  • Tally votes for end-of-season awards and goal kickers for social media content.
  • Assist with Finals match coordination and associated events/functions.
  • Provide general administrative support to the League, Board, and SAPA.
  • Promote and support National programs (e.g., QuickKick, Family Kick).
  • Support growth strategies for the AFL Masters Pathway.
  • Assist with marketing and communications, including Canva design and social media management (e.g. Facebook, Instagram).
  • Support the servicing of National and AFLVM partners.
  • Support funding applications and delivery, including government grants.
  • Support League events, club engagement, and partnership activations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Current Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Strong administrative and customer service skills
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Ability to resolve issues and handle sensitive matters diplomatically

Desirable:

  • Experience in sports administration (especially in Australian rules football)
  • Familiarity with PlayHQ platform
  • Background in community football operations
  • Understanding of AFL Masters Vic Metro competition structure and history
