Description

The Willoughby Roos are one of the oldest Rugby League Clubs in the country, and the largest on Sydney's lower North Shore. 

In 2025 we proudly entered our first Women's tackle team into the the U16s competition, and are now looking to expand our women's program with an U18s Team for the 2026 season. 

The preferred applicant should be passionate about the women's game of rugby league and the development of women in sport. 

You will have experience in coaching rugby league and are looking to develop your own coaching abilities within a growing club that is committed to developing the women's game. 

While this will be a volunteer role, the club will be happy to cover travel expenses to and from games and training throughout the season. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Skill Development:
    Teaching and refining rugby league skills, including passing, tackling, and game strategy. 
  • Training & Preparation:
    Planning and leading effective training sessions, focusing on fitness, technique, and game tactics. 
  • Player Selection:
    Making fair and informed decisions about player selection for training and matches. 
  • Positive Environment:
    Creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where players can develop their skills and confidence. 
  • Sportsmanship & Fair Play:
    Promoting respect for the rules, opponents, and officials. 
  • Communication & Liaison:
    Maintaining open communication with players, parents, club officials, and other coaches. 
  • Adherence to Rules & Codes:
    Ensuring players and team officials adhere to the club's and the Junior League's rules, codes of conduct, and discipline policies. 
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Seeking opportunities for personal development and staying up-to-date with coaching best practices. 
  • Player Welfare:
    Ensuring the physical and mental well-being of all players. 
  • Goal Setting:
    Setting realistic and achievable goals for players and encouraging dedication to achieving them. 
  • Club Spirit:
    Fostering a positive team environment and encouraging players to be dedicated and achieve their potential.
