With a strong track record of high-performance success at Olympic, World Championship and Commonwealth events, we are now looking to build even greater momentum as we head towards the Olympic Games in LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CMO who provides medical oversight to support the national diving pathway, in alignment with Diving Australia’s High-Performance Pathway Strategy. This role will focus on policy and protocols, with a focus on injury prevention.
The CMO will not provide direct treatment but will play a key role in providing high level advice to ensure athlete health and well-being are at the forefront.

The purpose of the CMO position is to reduce / minimise the number of athlete injuries and days lost to training and competition by providing a better understanding of the root cause and preventive measures.
This role is equivalent to 1 day per fortnight and is expected to operate as an Independent Contractor arrangement.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Policies and Procedures
- Lead the development and implementation of frameworks, policies, guidelines and other resources targeting injury / illness prevention and management including the development of a DA Concussion Policy.
- Review and update DA policies to ensure they are contemporary in their thinking. Develop educational activities within DA.
Practitioner Communication and Oversight
- Build and foster key relationship with other Sports and Exercise Medicine Physicians / Registrars managing diving athletes, including oversight of major injuries experienced by categorised athletes.
- Liaise with other treating Medical Specialists as needed. Communicate with NIN & other NSO CMOs as needed.
Medical Preparation for International Trips
- Provide remote Specialist Sports Medicine coverage.
- Communicate with support staff and athletes regarding travel advice.
- As required, assist with sourcing medical coverage for international trips.
Anti-doping
- Stay up to date with anti-doping knowledge.
- Communicate with staff, and provide education to athletes regarding anti-doping.
- Communicate with Sport integrity Australia / ASDMAC regarding antidoping concerns.
Athlete Management System (AMS)
- Medical monitoring and support for athletes entering of all relevant medical records into the AMS.
- Communicate with other performance team members regarding athlete health status, training status and training load to support collective decision making.
- Use AMS data collected to identify key areas for injury/illness prevention and longitudinal trends.
- Share best practice, and lead communities of practice.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Meetings
- Attend regular CMO meetings throughout the year.
- Communicate to DA in relation to relevant information discussed at the CMO meetings.
- Communicate with other CMOs as needed and attend yearly CMO meeting in Canberra
ABOUT YOU
- MB, BS degree or equivalent
- Registration to practice medicine in Australia
- Preferably holds a specialist qualification with ACSEP
- Demonstrated experience in the practice of sport and exercise medicine
- Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making
- Highly developed communication skills (including interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and representation) and a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated business acumen, planning and management skills and the ability to identify and achieve work objectives within an often-fast-moving environment
- Demonstrated commitment, drive and initiative to achieve program and organisational outcomes, with the ability to work as a member of a team and an individual (as required) providing productive leadership and management
