About Australian Athletics
Australian Athletics (AA) is the governing body for Athletics in this country. It is a National Sporting Organisation whose major partner is the Australian Sports Commission. AA is responsible for athletics, including high performance, participation, coaching, officiating, juniors, para-athletics, domestic and international competition. Australian Athletics has a critical role in leading, fostering and encouraging participation in athletics in Australia and promoting excellence in performance.
With the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games on the horizon, there’s never been a more exciting time to shape the future of para-athletics in Australia. We’re on the lookout for a passionate and driven Paralympic Pathways Coordinator to join our High Performance team and help pave the way for the next generation of Paralympic stars.
About the Role:
As Paralympic Pathways Coordinator, you’ll play a key part in shaping inclusive opportunities for para-athletes across the country. Working closely with the Paralympic Pathways Lead, you’ll help coordinate national projects that nurture emerging talent, strengthen para pathways, and enhance development opportunities for both athletes and coaches.
This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on collaboration, is passionate about equity in sport, and is ready to make a meaningful impact.
Your core duties will include:
- Assist in the delivery and logistics of para-athlete development initiatives.
- Support the Paralympic Pathways Lead on the development and implementation of a state-based talent pathway program for Para Athletes.
- Strengthening partnerships with state and national sporting bodies, disability organisations and clubs.
- Supporting athlete data systems and the development of inclusive coaching and classification resources.
- Contributing to a culture of integrity, inclusiveness, and continuous learning within the pathways system.
We're seeking someone who:
- Is highly organised and confident managing multiple projects and stakeholders
- Has strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially with community partners
- Can work both independently and collaboratively, with attention to detail and a proactive mindset
- Understands the value of inclusive participation and equitable access to sport
- Is excited by the chance to support athletes in realising their full potential – regardless of background or ability
Ideally you will have:
- Experience in coordinating sporting events or development programs
- An understanding of para-sport or the Paralympic pathway (or a strong desire to learn)
- Exposure to working in a club, state or community sporting environment
- Familiarity with classification processes or educational resource development is a bonus
- A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA’s National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
- Hold and maintain a valid Working with Children Check and (or ability to hold) Police Check.
