The Para-Sport Transition Coach will play a lead role in the identification, recruitment and support of para-athletes who have the potential to perform at a high level and work with Para-athletes to find the sport(s) which best align with their interests, strengths and skillset.

This role will be responsible for the talent identification, athlete development and athlete progression of Para athletes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the VIS Para Sport Unit Manager, NSO’s, SSA’s, Paralympics Australia and other Victorian Stakeholders to facilitate talent identification programs and initiatives.
• Carry out talent identification and development activities for para-sport within Victoria.
• Provide opportunities to identify athletes with eligible impairments and talent potential.
• Provide opportunities for identified athletes to try a range of para-sports.
• Facilitate a quality training environment at the VIS that is tailored to individual needs, accessible and safe for para-athletes.
• Provide coaching support for development athletes across a range of para-sports
• Develop and implement athlete-centric talent identification and development ensuring initiatives are responsive to needs, meet quality standards and are sustainable in a high-performance environment.
• Provide advice on relevant matters relating to para-sport to ensure every athlete is provided with the right advice regarding classification and sport selection to maximise their chance of performance success.
• Provide advice regarding eligible impairments in para-sport and facilitate classification of athletes as appropriate
• Engage in professional development opportunities, including AIS, VIS and Coach Development initiatives and applied coach education programs.
• Report regularly to VIS management on program outcomes, athlete development and tracking, and technical advancements within the VIS Para Sport Unit program.
