About Us and the Talent Development Program (TDP)

The Macarthur Football Association (MFA) is passionate about nurturing talent and providing a clear pathway for players and coaches of all ages and abilities. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to develop their skills and reach their full potential in our game.

The Talent Development Program (TDP) is a newly created football pathway available in the Macarthur region for players aged 12-18 years old. The program will serve as additional high-quality training and games for club-based players who will be selected on a term-by-term basis with the aim of strengthening both club football and player development pathways in the region.

Alongside our other player development programs, the TDP will become the crucial centrepiece in connecting grassroots and representative football together. We are seeking experienced and qualified Football Coaches to join our team and help to deliver the TDP.

Purpose of the Role

The Talent Development Program (TDP) Coach role will work closely with both the Football Development Manager and Head of Football to implement and deliver the MFA’s Talent Development Program. You will oversee a team within the TDP and be the lead on the delivery of the football-related tasks and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured football sessions that follow the MFA curriculum; trainings to be held once a week on Monday afternoons during school term (10 weeks per term)
  • Lead on associated matchday commitments; 2-4 matches per term held on Sunday’s
  • Follow and contribute to session plans, development frameworks and player progression systems
  • Provide detailed player feedback to program managers and parents
  • Assist with talent identification opportunities; attendance at local Macarthur Youth League (MYL) games, conducting player trials
  • Undertake general duties associated with the delivery of the program as deemed reasonably necessary by MFA.
  • Adhere at all times to MFA policies, procedures and WHS guidelines

Qualifications

  • FOF with view to complete C Licence in next 6 months
  • AFC C Licence accredited (or higher) is preferred
  • Tertiary qualifications in sports coaching or equivalent (e.g., sports science) is highly desirable
  • Working with children check

Skills and Experience

  • Strong communication skills with both children and adults
  • Ability to work successfully with a team of coaching staff
  • Capacity to ensure a committed and united approach with your coaching team
  • Ability to drive performance and quality in our programs
  • Ability to identify talented players and develop them through our programs
  • High level of football coaching, knowledge and experience

Nature of the Contract

The role is intended to be pursued for personal enjoyment and as a contribution to the community, rather than as a primary source of income. The work performed under this contract is not classified as employment, and the associated payment is not intended to sustain a livelihood.

The contract is not subject to typical employment obligations, such as superannuation, leave entitlements, or regular tax withholdings. The contractor acknowledges that this position is primarily voluntary, with remuneration provided to cover basic costs and as a token of appreciation.

Contractual Terms

  • The role is limited to a fixed term from late June 2025 – September 2026
  • 10 week cycle- 1 Monday training per week, Saturday morning Talent ID (5 Saturdays) and 3 Sundays for TDP matches
  • Payment will be $3000 for the duration of the contract; equates to approximately $30-40 per hour with above commitments
  • There may be additional working opportunities for suitable candidates; for example, involvement in other player development programs at the MFA
