Description

Drummoyne Sailing Club is seeking a dynamic and motivated Sailing Manager to lead and grow our Sailing Academy and play a key role in the delivery of the club’s sailing activities. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate sailing professional to shape the future of sailing at one of Sydney’s most iconic waterfront clubs.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Sailing Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Sailing Academy, promoting participation across all age groups, and coordinating with club leadership and volunteers to deliver high quality and safe sailing programs. This role requires strong leadership, operational and administrative skills, and a genuine passion for community sailing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote, manage, and grow the Sailing Academy as a primary pathway into club sailing.
  • Work closely with the Sailing Committee to prepare and manage budgets.
  • Coordinate staff and volunteers to ensure smooth and safe delivery of sailing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the club’s safety management plan and all government regulations.
  • Manage moorings, boat storage, and other sailing assets.
  • Supervise contractors and maintain on-water assets.
  • Attend Sailing Committee meetings, providing updates on Sailing Academy performance.
  • Manage sailing related systems and be capable in rostering of coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with Australian Sailing and other stakeholders as required.

Internal: General Manager, Operations Manager, Commodore, Vice Commodore, Rear Commodore, Club Captain, Sailing Committee

External: Australian Sailing, contractors, parents, participants

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in managing sailing programs or equivalent leadership in a sporting environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and people management abilities.
  • A working knowledge of sailing safety, compliance, and risk management.
  • Ability to engage and coordinate volunteers and staff.
  • A passion for growing participation in sailing from grassroots to club level.

  • Growth and financial sustainability of the Sailing Academy
  • High conversion rate of enquiries to enrolments
  • Safe and compliant delivery of sailing programs
  • Mooring occupancy and efficient asset management
  • Strong volunteer engagement and satisfaction
