The Role:

Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC) is seeking a passionate and experienced 1st VIII Coach & Boatshed Manager to join our highly regarded Sport Department. Based at the Richmond Rowing Club on Boathouse Drive, you will lead our flagship crew, “The Blacks” (Senior Squad First VIII), and manage all operations of the MLC Boatshed.
This is a unique opportunity to coach elite student-athletes, design and implement high-performance training programs, and oversee one of the largest and most successful schoolgirl rowing fleets in Australia.
About the Role Reporting to the Head of Rowing, you will:
- Lead, coach and develop our Senior Squad 1st VIII crew
- Design and implement progressive, safe, and engaging training and racing programs
- Manage boatshed operations including equipment maintenance, safety compliance, logistics, and repairs
- Collaborate closely with coaching staff and contribute to coach education
- Provide strong on-water and off-water leadership at training, camps, and major regattas (including interstate travel)
About You:
- Level 2 Rowing Coaching Accreditation (minimum)
- Experience coaching female rowing teams, ideally within a school environment
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset
- Proven ability to manage rowing equipment, trailers, and safety procedures
- Boat Licence, First Aid qualifications, and trailer towing experience
- Current Working With Childrens Check
Desirable:
- Level 3 Rowing Coaching Accreditation
- Previous coaching success at a national or international level
- Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR)
