Badminton Australia is the peak body for the sport of Badminton within Australia. Affiliated with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) and Paralympics Australia (PA), we promote, develop and administer badminton throughout Australia in partnership with our State/Territory member organisations.
With a new strategic plan rolling out in 2025, Badminton Australia is entering a dynamic and pivotal chapter. We are seeking a National Para Performance Manager to shape and elevate our High Performance Program as we embark upon our bold and ambitious performance objectives for LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
About the role
The National Para Performance Manager will lead and manage the Para High Performance Program and drive the delivery of the Para HP Pathway. With a strong focus on the Para Falcons, this is a unique opportunity for a passionate, proactive, and driven leader to deliver on key objectives in BA’s High Performance Strategy.
Reporting to the CEO, the key duties will include:
- Lead and deliver on national para high performance initiatives, including pathways, program delivery, camps, and coach development.
- Manage the delivery of the Athlete Development Framework for Para Falcons athletes, aligned with BA’s What It Takes To Win (WITTW) and HP Strategy, and the athlete categorisation framework.
- Research global best practice for Para HP Badminton and apply insights to build and develop BA’s players and workforce.
- Ensure clear and transparent selection, categorisation and classification policies and process are developed, implemented, and communicated in a timely manner.
- Strengthen collaboration with the National Institute Network, Australian Institute of Sport, and other key stakeholders to build an integrated and effective High-Performance Program.
- Lead and manage para high-performance staff and manage budget allocation to deliver on strategic objectives.
About you
Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following qualifications, skills, traits and experiences:
- An exceptional leader with the ability to drive success managing high performance teams in dynamic environments.
- A strong understanding of the Australian HP sport system and international sporting landscape.
- Experience working with athletes with disabilities in a sporting environment.
- A track record for building trust-based relationships with the ability to influence and inspire diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in the management and/or administration of HP sport programs at the national or international level.
- Experience in managing budgets and overseeing financial administration of a team/unit.
- An authentic, driven individual with high levels of resilience and self-awareness.
