Are you passionate about group fitness and ready to take the next step into a leadership role? We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Group Fitness Supervisor to lead the daily delivery of our group fitness programs at Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC).

In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with instructors and members to ensure our group fitness timetable is engaging, well-resourced, and aligned with the needs of our active community. You’ll provide on-the-ground support, mentor instructors, manage rostering and class performance, and contribute to the continued growth and success of our programs - including Reformer Pilates.

If you love fitness, thrive in a team environment, and enjoy making a difference, this is the role for you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the daily delivery of group fitness classes, including Reformer Pilates, and deliver classes as required ( direct service hours by agreement).
  • Manage instructor rostering, shift covers, and ensure compliance with scheduling needs.
  • Mentor and develop instructors to maintain service quality and deliver engaging classes.
  • Review class performance, adjust timetables based on demand, and coordinate group fitness events and activations that support member engagement and retention strategies.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new instructors and act as the first point of contact for feedback and staff matters.
  • Ensure programs meet safety standards and align with MUSAC policies and procedures, while working closely with the Fitness Services Coordinator to enhance offerings.

About You

To be successful, you must have:

  • Certificate III in Health & Fitness or equivalent Group Exercise Leader qualification.
  • Program-specific certifications (e.g. Les Mills, Yoga, Reformer, Aqua).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring fitness instructors.
  • Proven experience in delivering a variety of group fitness classes.
  • Strong rostering and scheduling skills, with a focus on resourcing to meet budget and demand.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and supportive approach as a team player, with strong attention to detail.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead from the front, support a dynamic team of instructors, and bring energy and innovation to a much-loved community fitness program. If you’re ready to combine leadership with your passion for movement, we’d love to hear from you.

Other Specific Requirements

  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
  • Valid Working with Children Check (please include clearance number in your resume)
  • Agreement to deliver group fitness classes as part of the role (direct service hours by agreement with the Fitness Services Coordinator)
