As a Remote Community Sport Officer you play a key role in coordinating key programs that improve participation opportunities for remote communities in sport and active recreation.
Territory Families, Housing and Communities (TFHC) takes a whole-of-life approach to addressing the vulnerabilities in our society through providing support services to create positive change for children, families, communities and seniors. Working collaboratively with an extensive network of organisations, including local and regional councils. TFHC assists support year-round participation in regular, structured and organised sport and active recreation programs.
As a Remote Community Sport Officer your key focus will be to improve participation opportunities in sport and active recreation within remote communities. You will do this by assisting stakeholders in developing programs and strategies for school and after school activities, partner with the Territory Sports Academy and Strategic Partnerships Unit to identify athletes, coaches and volunteers to specialised development services and promote the advancement of sport and active recreation in remote communities. Other duties include maintaining accurate records and statistical data, collating reports and briefings and working closely with peak sporting bodies and community representatives to maximise community, sport and recreation facilities.
To be successful you will need a solid understanding of sport and active recreation planning and coordination, the ability to operate in a remote community, articulate ideas and suggestions on sport and recreation activities, and work effectively with peak sporting organisations, local and regional councils and community representatives. Highly effective verbal, written and listening communication skills, a willingness to work outside core business hours and the ability to obtain a Working with Children Card and NT driver licence is essential.
