The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the smooth daily operation of their respective facility, the delivery of exceptional customer service to our members and guests and the daily coordination of a small team of staff. Detailed Description

SUSF are looking for either a Permanent Part Time or Permanent Full Time (Morning and/or Evening shifts). 

TIming of shifts can be modified to meet the needs of the suitable candidate. 

Salary is up tp $58k + super depending on experience and will be pro-rata for Part Time Employee. 

Duties:

Supervisory Duties

Ensure that all staff adheres to the Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness policies and procedures manual.

Assist Customer Service Attendants, as required.

Supervise all staff and their appropriate areas – including fitness centre and customer service staff.

Supervise and liaise with members, university clubs, affiliated groups and organisations using the centre.

Adjudicate on problems which may arise from time to time and affect the operation of the centre, its staff and members – including misconduct.

Supervise and liaise with bistro manager, tradesmen and contractors that may be required to carry out work within the centre from time to time – ensuring the quality of work, cleanliness of the centre and the safety of members and staff.

Ensure the security of the building at all times and liaise with University Security on all matters of security within the centre and immediate surrounds.

Supervise and liaise with the cleaning contractor ensuring cleanliness, hygiene and health standards are maintained at all times.

Monitor water safety and give assistance to patrons and users where necessary including first aid and resuscitation (SUSAC only)

Financial Control

Supervise the receiving, receipting and balancing of all monies received.

Securing all monies in safe at the completion of each shift.

Budget control – ensure the centre operates with budgetary guidelines by the efficient use of equipment, lighting, heating (energy) and staff rostering.

Seek quotations, where necessary, for the purchase of equipment and the carrying out of work by contractors.

Check all invoices for the delivery of goods and report all work carried out.

General Duties

Carry out life saving and first aid procedures as required.

Be familiar with and carry out, where necessary, emergency evacuation procedures.

Ensure that all staff are familiar with emergency procedures.

Report to the operations manager on all matters effecting the operation of the centre including health and safety, staff and security.

Plant Control and Maintenance

Ensure the pool water tests are conducted on a regular basis for chlorine and pH levels ensuring that these readings are recorded and maintained within the limits as required by the Department of Health.

Chemical dosing of pool water to maintain above mentioned standards.

Ensure the Backwashing of the filters.

Regulate heat exchanger for water temperature control.

Carry out routine maintenance.

Report to the Facilities Manager or Operations Manager any major maintenance that should be carried out and of any new technology which may result in cost savings or more efficient operation of plant.

Cleaning Duties

Remove automatic pool cleaner from pool.

Ensure the pool attendant has undertaken the following as required: clean pool cleaner filter (daily), check and clear impeller of foreign matter (weekly), remove and clean scum gutter screens (daily),  clean tiles of body fat at water level (daily), vacuum pool carpet steps (daily), clean pool rubbish bins (daily).

Ensure all aspects of your facility are presentable.

Other Duties

Perform other duties as directed by the Centre Manager, Facilities Manager or Operations Manager.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Recognised Industry Experience in Facility operations (+ 2 years)

Demonstrated high level of customer, communication and service skills.

Demonstrated high level of organisational skills in dealing with multiple projects and priorities.

Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated experience in supervision of cross sectional and generational staff.

Demonstrated experience in sales and membership programs.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in operation of pool plant and equipment, maintenance procedures and pool testing techniques. (SUSAC only)

Computer Literacy.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications – Certificate of Diploma in operations or similar
  • Work Health & Safety
