Detailed Description

POSITION TITLE: General Manager

POSITION TERMS: Permanent part-time (30 hours per week)

LOCATION: Whitehorse Netball Association, Hanover Road, Vermont

SUPERVISES / MANAGES: Office Manager/Admin Assistant and other staff listed below.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following list of duties / responsibilities is not exhaustive and is provided as a guide. Other duties may be required from time to time.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of WNA including
    1. Managing stakeholder relationships
    2. Financial management
    3. staff supervision
    4. staff annual reviews
    5. liaison with Sportlink
  • Work in conjunction with the Board towards the deliverance of quality competitions
  • Promote, manage and supervise all fundraising events for WNA
  • Procurement of one sponsorship opportunity annually
  • Producing one award nomination annually
  • Support and manage the following positions:
    1. Office Manager / Admin Assistant
    2. Grading Committee
    3. Head Rep Coach
    4. Mission Control staff
    5. Competitions Supervisors
    6. Umpire’s Supervisor
    7. Bookkeeper
  • Coordinate the planning, organisation and implementation of WNA competitions in conjunction with Competitions Convenors
  • Assist in the development of communication suitable for website and social media
  • Assist in the development of budgets for all aspects of the Association activities including competitions
  • Supervise competition draws and results tables in conjunction with support from competition convenors
  • Conduct annual review of competitions and events format and execution
  • Provide events management advice and assistance
  • Respond to telephone and written inquiries as needed
  • Oversee all communication to Member Clubs
  • Other duties as directed by the Board

SELECTION CRITERIA

Mandatory:

  • National Police check (including finger print check)
  • Experience in a leadership role including leading staff
  • Demonstrable competency in financial management
  • Computer literacy
  • Demonstrable competency with Microsoft office suite
  • Demonstrable understanding of My Netball, Care Monkey, MYOB
  • Sound understanding of the structures of Netball Victoria and Netball Australia

Desirable:

  • Flexibility in work hours during key/peak times
  • Current Score of no less than 80% on Netball Australia rules

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • A positive culture within the Association
  • All staff (both volunteer and paid) are well managed and supported
  • Meet budget expectations
  • Competitions are delivered satisfactorily
  • Service delivery rated well by Clubs and their Members
  • One successful sponsorship per calendar year
  • One nomination for award for the Association annually

WNA is required to meet the demands of a sport which operates seven days per week, with the timing of certain activities being critical to its success. 

WNA staff will, as the circumstances of the case determine, contribute their time and efforts outside normally recognised office hours where their personal attention, knowledge or expertise may benefit WNA, its objectives and achievements.

As a member of the WNA staff, you will, on occasions be required to travel in order to attend functions as a representative of WNA. Your conduct and appearance should reflect the role of ambassador and your activities set an example to other employees.

It will be a condition that WNA will be entitled to be fully informed of the results of all work done by you and to have full and exclusive benefits of its results. It will be a condition that you will not without authority, divulge to any other person any information in regard to the affairs of WNA.
