Willoughby Leisure Centre
Willoughby Leisure is one of Willoughby’s most valued facilities, providing aquatic facilities and services, swimming lessons, health club facilities and sports courts to the Willoughby community. Opened in 1990, the centre hosts more than 540,000 visitors annually.
Funded in conjunction with the Federal Government, the site chosen for the Centre was a former landfill site, demonstrating innovative engineering to build on more than 24m of landfill in Flatrock Gully.
Recent energy conservation measures installed at the Centre have resulted in lower operational costs, and more importantly, the carbon dioxide emissions from the Centre have been significantly reduced. A cogeneration system using a turbine to generate electricity from natural gas and using thermal energy for the pool, will soon be installed.
Willoughby Leisure Centre - your community centre - is operated by Willoughby City Council.
