In November 2006 Sportspeople reported the high number of Chief Executive roles in Queensland on the market over a relatively short time span, with a total of 13 Chief Executive Officer, General Manager and Director positions advertised and filled over 6 months.

Over the past 6-7 months, New Zealand has experienced a very similar trend with some of the nation's top sport management roles coming onto the market. Here's just a few in which Sportspeople Executive has had a direct involvement in the search, selection and recruitment process:

There's a sense of renewed energy and excitement permeating the sport management sector throughout New Zealand. SPARC, the federal funding agency (equivalent to the Australian Sports Commission) has introduced a number of initiatives which among other things, aim to revitalise sport while addressing the dichotomy of producing "Winning Teams" and encouraging people to "Get Active".

Importantly, these roles have included remuneration packages which are internationally competitive, underpinning the effort to attract the very best candidates. In fact, many roles in New Zealand are remunerated at a more attractive level when compared to the equivalent role in Australia.
