SISSS00132 - Swimming and Water Safety Teacher provides the skills and knowledge required to assist individuals in gaining the competencies required to deliver water-related personal safety and survival lessons

This course will allow you to build on your skills and develop the expertise needed to deliver programs and services to Australian adults. You will be at the forefront of swimming and water safety for adults, and give them the skills needed to use the aquatic environment in a safer way.

This course is developed to help AUSTSWIM Teachers develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of the higher levels in learn-to-swim programs. The course aims to provide candidates with a better understanding of how to deliver longer sessions as well as how to develop strokes so they become more and more efficient in the water.

This course is designed to provide AUSTSWIM Teachers with the knowledge required to empower diverse groups of people to feel safer in, on and around water. Upon completion of this course, AUSTSWIM Teachers will be able to deliver programs and services that meet the needs of a diverse range of people who use the aquatic environment. 

This course will give you the skills needed to safely introduce parents and children to the water, plus educate parents in quality supervision of children when in, on and around water. This will also help to enhance bonding between children and parents in the aquatic environment.

This is an extension course for Swim Teachers and will deliver the skills and knowledge required to identify the needs of participants with a disability, assist them to safely enter and exit the water and to provide appropriate support during aquatic activities.

The Royal Life Saving Swim Teacher course provides candidates with essential competencies to teach swimming and water safety to children aged 3-12 years. Accreditation is valid for three (3) years.
