This course is ideal for managers and staff responsible for the maintenance of any pool or spa in a public (aquatic centre) or private facility (hotels, apartments, retirement, aged care and health facilities).
It’s also great for pool lifeguards and swimming teachers who wish to broaden their skills and knowledge as well as career opportunities in the aquatics industry.
The course covers the following topics:
- Occupational health and safety
- Health and legislation and disease transmission
- Pool circulation
- Pool filtration
- Safe chemical handling
- Chemical disinfection and chemical balance
- Maintenance and cleaning of facilities and plant
Comprises of the following two components:
Off the job: Completion of assessment workbook during the training course
On the job performance record: Assessment activities undertaken in the workplace (under the guidance of a workplace supervisor) in the 3 months following the training course.
*Participants are required to have access to an Aquatic facility to complete part 2 of their assessment
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:
SISCAQU201A – Monitor pool water quality
SISCAQU303A – Operate aquatic facility plant and equipment
SISCAQU304A – Maintain pool water quality
SISCAQU305A – Implement aquatic facility plant and equipment maintenance program
SISXOHS101A – Follow occupational health and safety policies
