Bring the stories of softball to life!

Create content. Grow our game. Be part of something big.

Are you a creative storyteller who knows how to capture attention and bring a sport to life through digital content?

Softball Australia is looking for a passionate and digitally savvy Digital Content and Engagement Officer to grow our online presence, connect with our community and showcase the people and stories that make softball special.

With the 2027 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals coming to Redcliffe, Queensland, in April 2027, this is your opportunity to help build excitement around a major international sporting event and create a lasting legacy for softball in Australia.

If you love creating engaging content, know what makes people stop scrolling and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this could be the role for you!

What you’ll be bringing to the game:

  • Create, edit and publish engaging content across social media, websites, email and other digital channels.
  • Manage Softball Australia’s social media platforms and online communities, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Develop content calendars and story ideas that keep our members, stakeholders and wider community informed and engaged.
  • Capture and edit photo and video content, including social-first content using your phone.
  • Help deliver media opportunities, event launches, photo opportunities, sponsor announcements and activations.
  • Manage email communications, databases and our digital content library.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and community content creators to help tell softball’s stories.
  • Produce Softball Australia’s annual report.
  • Support the growth and visibility of softball, with a strong focus on the 2027 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals.

 What we’re looking for:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience creating engaging social media content and growing digital engagement.
  • Confidence capturing, editing and delivering content using your phone.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and computer skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Canva and Microsoft 365.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with people at all levels.
  • A creative, proactive and resourceful approach, with strong attention to detail.
  • A current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one), experience working with children and young people, and an understanding of appropriate behaviours and safeguarding responsibilities.

Bonus points if you’ve got:

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro/Rush, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience working within a sporting organisation.
  • A qualification in Marketing, Design, Video Production, Communications, PR, Media or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Why this role rocks:

  • Be part of the build-up to a major international sporting event on home soil.
  • Help showcase our athletes, clubs and communities to a wider audience.
  • Get creative and make an impact across multiple digital platforms.
  • Work with a passionate team committed to growing softball across Australia.
  • Enjoy flexible working arrangements in a collaborative team environment.
  • Help create a legacy for women’s sport that extends beyond the 2027 World Cup.

The fine print:

  • Full-time position based at Softball Australia HQ, Sport House, Albert Park, Melbourne, with hybrid working arrangements.
  • Some domestic and occasional international travel will be required.
  • After-hours and weekend work will be required as needed.
  • The successful candidate must be available during the three-month lead-up to the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals in April 2027, with no significant leave planned during this period.
