Reporting to the General Manager - NSW/ACT, the Club Support Officer’s primary role is to develop working relationships with Clubs and Classes, enabling successful introduction and delivery of Australian Sailing programs and initiatives. The Club Support Officer’s role is to work with Clubs, Discover Sailing Centres and other stakeholders to strive for sustainable growth in participation and membership.

The key responsibilities of a Club Support Officer are:
Club SupportandEngagement:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key personnel at Clubs and Discover Sailing Centres.
Guide and support Clubs and Centres to establish and maintain effective management systems that will:
Develop the capability and capacity of Clubs, with regards to sport development and participation.
Improve participation and membership services: Programs, Recruitment & Retention, including SailPass.
Develop and improve club governance, including Planning & Risk Management.
Ensure facilities are fit for purpose, safe and inclusive.
Assist in delivering the best possible events that are safe and inclusive.
Help market and promote Sailing, including websites to drive membership and increase participation.
Deliver membership system (RevolutioniseSPORT) training with support from the central Online Services team.
Share best-practice from the Club network and sport.
Provide input into the development of new resources for clubs as required.
Promote local and state grants and other funding opportunities to Clubs.
Work collaboratively with other Australian Sailing staff to prepare, promote and deliver annual events including Sailing Summits, Training in Focus – LIVE & Officials Workshop, NSW/ACT Sailing Awards, and Zhik Youth Sail in NSW & ACT.
GrowParticipation:
Seek to increase the number of Clubs delivering Australian Sailing accredited programs.
Support the development of Clubs and implementation of their participation pathways.
Work with accredited Discover Sailing Centres to:
Increase course participants, year-on-year.
Maximize their growth potential, productivity and efficiency.
Apply for and then maintain their annual accreditation.
Ensure the Principal, and other staff, are inducted and trained into operating a Discover Sailing Centre.
Mentor Instructors and Principals and identify development opportunities.
Work with Clubs and Centres to ensure the pathway from courses to membership and ongoing participation in the sport is known and understood by participants.
Coordinate and administer training courses and connect Clubs to new instructors, officials, coaches or other workforce specialists.
Build positive working relationships with Senior Instructors and Senior Coaches.
Work with Clubs to recruit and train coaches, race officers and volunteers.
Administration support for instructors, coaches and officials.
Develop and maintain a calendar of training courses, ensuring they are visible on revSPORT.
Work proactively to ensure growth of qualified instructors, coaches and officials.
Working with the Grow team and Senior Instructors, prepare and deliver and annual Conference/Workshop to develop Instructors and Discover Sailing Centre Principal’s, and Race Officials.
Project Involvement:
As agreed with the General Manager and/or Sport Operations Director, take part in cross-departmental project teams that will be focused on product development, support resources for Clubs or review of processes and procedures.
Qualifications&Experience
Sailing experience and/or qualifications (Instructor, Coach or Race Official)
Experience working or volunteering with a Sailing Club, including any committees.
Experience and technical knowledge of sailing as a recreational activity and as a competitive sport – either as a participant or in club administration.
Experience in working within a similar role, ideally within a not-for-profit/sport environment.
Experience in working with a diverse range of stakeholders/volunteers.
Experience working in a customer service role.
Experience with coordinating & marketing events
Experience with social media and other electronic marketing tools including websites.
Experience with Microsoft 365 – Office, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Relevant State Working with Children Check (willing to attain)
Relevant State Car Drivers Licence.
Desirable* experience, accreditation or licences (current or willing to attain):
Tertiary qualifications in sport management/business/management/training (or a related field) are highly desirable.
Demonstrated commitment to high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction including a high level of relationship management skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences with well-developed written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Be a confident presenter and communicator, with a high level of interpersonal skills, with excellent relationship management, influencing and listening skills.

Highly developed computer skills and have had exposure to databases.

Ability to manage a variety of conflicting priorities over extended periods.
Demonstrated understanding of the drivers and barriers of sports participation, and the ability to develop strategies toward increased participation.
