We are looking for a talented individual for the position of Keelboat Programme Manager. This is a full-time position based in Hong Kong. The role reports to the Sailing and Marine Manager at Middle Island.
The successful candidate will have significant autonomy to run and develop this new programme; therefore, we seek an individual able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team that delivers sail training and race training.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate growth in the Club’s keelboat class participation and keelboat training courses. In addition, leveraging the Elliott for corporate events is an objective.
Build and develop the Club’s programmes, collaborating with the Racing Development Manager, Sail Centre Manager and Corporate Events Team.
Be the primary instructor and ensure the best use of other coaching resources to facilitate the optimal use of the fleet.
Oversee the implementation and delivery of keelboat programmes at youth and adult levels.
Ensure these programmes are adequately staffed, monitored and adjusted to increase quality and participation.
Organise seminars and workshops for members on keelboat sailing.
Organise, coordinate and instruct or lead sessions.
Explore and implement initiatives for further growth in keelboat training, racing and other participation.
Work closely with the Centre Manager to train, mentor and develop qualified instructors and Club coaches to assist with programme delivery.
Duties and hours dedicated to various duties will vary depending on the time of year and the programme’s priorities at any given time.
Assist with coaching and sail training from time to time, as needed.
Follow RHKYC Coaching and Sail Training guidelines.
Keep up to date with child protection policies.
Perform such other duties as may reasonably be requested by Management.
Qualifications and Skills
Sailing programme management experience.
A high level of sailing and coaching experience.
An internationally recognised sailing coaching qualification.
An internationally recognised powerboat driving qualification, where possible.
Hong Kong PV O.C.C. (if already based in Hong Kong), or the ability to obtain it within six months.
First aid and CPR qualifications.
Working Conditions
The role will require availability to work with members on most weekends, with regular days off on weekdays.
The role will require spending a large proportion of working time outdoors, in all weather conditions. A high level of personal fitness should be maintained.
