Nightcliff Dolphins Swimming Club is seeking a Head Coach to lead our coaching program and help shape the club’s future.
Our home is Nightcliff Swimming Pool, on the picturesque Nightcliff foreshore, overlooking the Timor Sea in Darwin’s northern suburbs. Our community-focused club supports swimmers from their first squad sessions through to competitive and higher-performance pathways.
We are looking for strong technical coaching, clear leadership and a commitment to swimmer development.
The role
As Head Coach, you will:
- Lead and develop the club’s junior, development and competitive squad programs.
- Plan and deliver progressive training programs suited to swimmers’ ages, abilities and goals.
- Support swimmers to progress from junior participation to competitive and higher-performance pathways.
- Attend targeted club, regional, Territory and other appropriate competitions to support swimmers.
- Lead and mentor assistant and junior coaches.
- Work with the Club Committee on squad structure, participation, retention and future growth.
- Maintain clear, constructive communication with swimmers, parents and families.
- Support dryland and strength and conditioning activities within your qualifications and scope of practice.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and safe training environment where swimmers enjoy the sport and work towards their potential.
- Contribute to school holiday, intensive and other development programs where appropriate.
About you
A current Australian Swim Coach Licence issued by Swimming Australia is essential.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience coaching junior and competitive swimmers at different stages of development.
- Strong program planning and technical coaching skills.
- A swimmer-centred approach that balances performance, development, wellbeing and enjoyment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to lead and develop other coaches.
- A commitment to safeguarding children and maintaining professional standards.
- A current Working with Children clearance (Ochre Card), or the ability to obtain one, and the ability to meet other relevant compliance requirements.
Experience in dryland training, strength and conditioning, swimmer development pathways or performance coaching would be highly regarded.
