THE ROLE

The Event Day Assistant – Results and Video Content is a casual event day role that will assist in enabling NSW Athletics digital and fan engagement strategies. Reporting to the Sport Technology Manager, the role will utilise technology to increase our events digital content (by filming and producing event content), as well as ensure that results data is provided to the athletics community in a timely manner.

This role is perfect for individuals looking to get their start in sport and with a passion for athletics, as well as anyone that wishes to increase their exposure to sporting events, media or digital mediums.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Event Day Assistant – Results and Video Content, you will be responsible for the following key functions:

1. Event Content Production

  • Attend NSW Athletics competitions, delivering high-quality video content with short turnaround times.
  • Capture and publish all field attempts in a given event.
  • Capture quality track videos, prioritising the leader of a given event.
  • Cut and mix multiple video inputs and publish to our results platform, and live scoreboard.
  • Establish safe protocols and practices with our Senior Officials to minimise impact and injury for all parties while operating in the field of play.

2. Result and Data Entry

  • Record and validate event entries, working with our Technical Officials to ensure an accurate reflection of competition standings is portrayed on our live results platform.

3. Team Collaboration & General Duties

  • Work collaboratively with our Technical Officials and Sport Delivery Team to achieve an optimal user experience through our live results platform.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the General Manager – Sport Delivery and Sport Technology Manager.

KEY SELECTION CRITIERIA 

Essential

  • A strong understanding and ability to use technology.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and prioritise 90/10 solutions over perfection.
  • Strong social media skills, including content scheduling, community management, and analytics.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
  • Be available at NSW Athletics flagship events, NSW All Schools Championships, NSW Masters Championships, NSW Little Athletics Championships, NSW Junior Championships and NSW Open Championships

Desirable

  • Experience in sport, events, or community-focused content production.
  • Experience in or knowledge of filming equipment and production.
  • Knowledge of or passion for athletics, Little Athletics, or track and field.
  • Experience tracking key event moments (i.e. following lead athletes, identifying emotive athlete interactions).
