The Big V Championship Women’s Head Coach will manage, coordinate and lead the program in line with the association’s strategic priorities and goals. Provide leadership and ultimately be responsible for the performance of the Sunbury Jet’s Women’s program, including player, Assistant Coach recruitment, development and reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the SBA Board and Staff.
Lead the Big V Women's program and work with Youth League coach to align on style of play.
Lead, plan and integrate joint training sessions with Youth League in consultation with Youth League Coach & BOM
Clear and open communication with Youth League coaches & BOM for management of 2-way players
Lead the recruitment of appropriately skilled players, coaches and support staff who contribute effectively to the program.
Plan and lead a program that supports individual and team development.
Plan, schedule and conduct training: preseason, in-season and post-season.
Attend all team / program commitments including scheduled team functions.
Build positive and lasting relationships with all key stakeholders that can lead to program success.
Develop a strong culture and standards within the team in line SBA culture and values, and hold all players and support staff accountable to these standards.
Lead and develop strategies to compete successfully against other Big V programs.
Foster an environment that is conducive to supporting the development pathway from Youth League.
Integrate into the SBA community and engage with key stakeholders and members
Lead camps and clinics during school holidays to promote the program
Understanding and management of Big V playing budgets
Conduct mid and post season reviews in conjunction with BOM.
Respond to reasonable requests from BOM and SBA Board.
Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum Basketball Australia Level 2 (Association) coaching qualification.
Minimum period of five (5) years coaching and/or playing experience at Big V or higher level is preferred.
Previous experience in managing athletes, coaches and support staff within a high performance basketball development program.
Proven ability to adapt to and meet developing trends in basketball.
Exceptional time management, planning, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
