The Border Umpires Group was established in 2024 after a restructure and governs AFL Umpiring in the North East Border region, being affiliated with AFL Victoria. Our organisation is governed by and accountable to an independent Board of Directors. The Border Umpires Group are key in the development of community football and umpiring withing the region, as well as participation within community sport.
Key Relationships
Internal: Umpiring Growth and Engagement Lead, Head of Coaching, Head of Umpiring, Umpire Coaches, Umpires.
External: Community Football Leagues (incl clubs/players).
Tenure: Adhoc/ as engaged (volunteer role, paid an honourarium at the end of the season)
Purpose – why is the role important
The Photographer/Social Media Producer will be responsible for taking photos and videos of members of our organisaiton as they perform their role across a number of settings. The Photographer/Social Media Producer will take photo and video content that will be used for social media promotion, brand awareness, umpire recognition and internal and external events. The role will be rostered on selected days/events which may include match day, training sessions, events (awards night, season launch etc) and will help to capture the moments that matter for our organisation – from first games to 500th career matches, this role will make a real impact (and help us re-live and share memories).
Day in the life – what you will be responsible for
Take photo and video content at scheduled matches and events
Upload photo and video content to social media channels (as directed from time to time)
Edit photo and video content as required
Promote a safe, inclusive and welcoming culture
Support and contribute to the success of the broader team

Highly Desirable
Previous experience in professional photography
Experience using social media and marketing platforms
A love for the game of AFL

Capacity to work outside normal business hours will be required from time to time
Willingness to complete professional development as directed
