The Australian Flying Disc Association Limited (AFDA) is the recognised national sporting organisation responsible for flying disc sports in Australia.
AFDA and its Member Organisations play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering various participation, pathway, and high-performance programs across Australia in an open, equal and inclusive environment for all. While not an exhaustive list, AFDA’s responsibilities include:
- Grassroots Programs, Sporting Schools, and Competitions
- Grass and Beach Ultimate National Events
- Masters National Events; and
- Team Australia National/International Campaigns for juniors, seniors, and masters (across both Beach and Grass Ultimate) competing in World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) organised international events.
AFDA’s Affiliate Member, the Australian Disc Golf Association (ADG), currently takes primary responsibility for Disc Golf programs (from grassroots to elite level) with AFDA’s support.
The Events Manager reports directly to the CEO and is a full-time, permanent role within AFDA. The role is accountable for and leads the annual AFDA event calendars, annual budgets, delivery systems, host/venue relationships, and quality standards, with flexibility to work from home anywhere in Australia or from the AFDA National Office in Melbourne.
The successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience planning and delivering multi-day sporting events or tournaments, ideally at the state or national level. You will have proven success in event budgeting, financial management, project + risk management, venue + supplier negotiation, partnership + commercial development, and volunteer workforce coordination.
Experience in the operations and delivery of Ultimate and Disc events is preferred but not essential; however, strong stakeholder engagement skills across the disc-playing community, local government, commercial partners, member organisations, event participants, and clubs are essential.
